I'm so happy for Estelle that she got some positive comments from Michael and Layla in the videos the housemates were shown.I still think that Michael and Estelle's friendship is genuine. (Read my explanation ina comment in the eviction article. The comment is near the bottom). And, oh, Zoe and her horsing around. I wonder how her night will be like?Ben was really mean to Estelle in this episode.A pretty good episode. Can't wait for tomorrow's!Vote for Michael!
Oh, yeah and liked how the episode ended on a high note with the video with the good moments of Big Brother this year so far.
micheal just think a relationship with Estele would look so good for him ,he know Estele could win ,can't stand the guy now because of this and his actions all summer,he just proved everyone suspicions about his motive's ,bit sad to see TBO ,would rather the money went to Ben than him and trust me i DO NOT LIKE BEN
I'm just watching the show now. You don't know HOW HAPPY I was to see Ben's face when he found out that it was LAYLA's superpower that removed Sam and put Stacey up for nomination. It does a heart good.
Ben says, "They are saving me for last because I'm the nicest person."If ANYBODY doesn't see how insanely out of touch he is, then I can't help you any more than I have tried.
Doc, we missed you in the chat this morning...it was fun and Seffie was there too! Yes, Ben's face was priceless when he found out that Layla saved her boy toy and put Stacey up. And yes, Ben is totally out of touch. Ben had to blather on about Zoe, defending her, as she went to the DR to decide whether to accept Big Brother's offer. Another case where he needs to keep his mouth shut. They all were talking to each other that everything is alright, blah, blah, blah, but we know all that was revealed will be the talk of the house this week. For me, I thought it was funny that Layla said she would put winning the money over Sam, and Sam said he would put the money ahead of Layla. They so playing each other and the conversations between the two of them this week should be interesting to say the least! I am glad production showed Zoe's actions of breaking Estelle's wooden pony and her punishment by Big Brother. And of course, Ben had to make a snide comment about it as he is walking away instead of saying it to Estelle's face. What a tool. Notice that when all of the housemates, sans Ben, is out at the treadmill encouraging Zoe, including Estelle, for her to walk all those kilometers to fulfill that part of her punishment. All in all, I thought it was a great episode. Could Big Brother have revealed more of the nasty things that were said in the house, sure. Sometimes a little can mean a lot and But Big Brother planting those seeds will fuel the housemates' paranoia more and keep the final week from being a bore fest.
This was one of the best episodes ever. The HM's are super...
Great show ,come on Australia give Estelle the cash ,OMG even Ben doesn't know what a Dickhead he is WoW ,is he in for a shock in real world ,nasty judgmental piece of work (the worse type in my book) ,if not Estelle then the fat girl sorry (lardases)cant remember the name :) ,LOL ,been a blast ,what a roll of BB with cbb/uk/usa/au ,oh well only 8 weeks to CBB uk Doc ,enjoy the rest and see you for more mayhem ,need to ask is there live streaming BBAU anywhere to see final live and chat in twitter/forums ect ,it's on at 10am in uk ,been a joy and don't know what i'd without you guys and links MON ESTELLE ,Go Girl ,worth it to see the look on the greedy bully's of the house
Hi! I live in Australia and have been watching this season and thought it was better late than never to start commenting. :) I started watching BB again after it was canceled here in 2008 last year when the Channel 5 BBUK started up, since then I've literally watched at least one BB episode, past and present, every day, because I'm a bit weird like that.I'm very disappointed Stacey was evicted on Sunday, I voted for her heaps to stay, and was hoping she would stay - I would have preferred Estelle left but wouldn't have been devastated if Benjamin left either, but I think Sonia hit the nail on the head when she said the Benjamin/Stacey fans would have been split. As for the Big Secrets episode, I was really looking forward to it as I thought it would reveal some true characters in the house - particularly Zoe and Estelle - but it seems the producers had another thought in mind. Obviously it being a 'family-friendly' BB they were never going to show anything that would cause massive arguments, so they were quite watered down really, but I think they didn't do enough when it came to these two.Zoe's bitching, I think, has been the worst out of all the housemates (even Benjamin), purely because of the manner in which she does it. If Benjamin is in going to bitch about someone, like Layla last week, he'll at least make it known. Zoe, on the other hand, will act like their best friend and then immediately begin bitching when they leave or run to the Diary Room and do it - at least Benjamin has the slight bit of class to say some stuff to the person's face. The fact that she routinely nominated Stacey - for four points last week - despite them being close is proof to me that she is not playing a clean game, but then who is this season? They're all as bad as each other. Anyway, my point is, they made her seem a lot nicer than what she actually is in those packages.Estelle's bad sides are different to all the other housemates, perhaps why we didn't see them shown in her packages. She has a MASSIVE princess complex and is determined to prove that she is better than everyone in there. I'd even go as far to say that she's playing the game more than anyone in there. It's not that she's 'weird' or 'different' that I have a problem with - it's that she makes a massive point of it. As soon as she knows she's a part of something that will be shown on the Daily Show or live she'll suddenly ramp up the craziness. Like I said, it's a bit hard to point out as much as the other guys but it's definitely there. So, instead of showing it in her secrets packages, they just decided to try and make her out as the best person ever. Am I the only one who saw this?
I haven't enjoyed this series as much as previous series - I've enjoyed the BBUK I have watched more. That's interesting I guess, since international viewers have seemed to have had the reverse opinion. The grass is always greener I guess. That said, this series has done the job of getting me to watch every episode and look forward to evictions and stuff, so this series has definitely shown promise, I just hope they look at what needs improvement. It's also inspired me to audition for next year, so we'll see how that goes, lol.I don't really care who wins at this point. Zoe and Sam don't have a chance in hell, Benjamin has massive support but his bitchiness makes him a bit undeserving. Michael had a massive fan base but shot himself in the foot once Josh left and he became a bit of a strategising egomaniac. Layla has a strong chance of winning, her hammed up dumb act has got the younger audience this BB aims at intrigued. Estelle probably has a good chance too - she has, to her credit, come a long way and gathered a large amount of support. They've all done things to deserve to win, but all done things that make them undeserving in a sense. My predictions for the rest of the series:Sunday eviction - Sam goes.Double Eviction Monday - Zoe goes, then maybe Benjamin or Estelle if her fans get complacent.Finale Wednesday - Estelle/Benjamin third, Layla second and Michael wins. What do you guys think? :)
I think your predictions are pretty close to what I was thinking except I think Zoe will go Sunday, Sam and Benjamin on Double Eviction Monday, Finale - Michael/Estelle 3rd, Michael/Estelle 2nd, Layla wins. Estelle's position depends, like you said, on whether her fans get complacent. I think a lot depends on what happens on the episodes this week on who goes when or who wins, but Zoe and Sam I see going Sunday or Monday and I do not see Michael winning.Overall, I enjoyed this season. I realize they had to do a PG show because of all of the past problems. Since there will be no live feeds, I think they need a companion show like the UK Big Brother Bits on the Side, shown in the later hours after the episode airs, where profanity would not be taboo and have critiques of the housemates from past housemates, etc. Confidential and the Little Sister programs were, for me, worthless. And they need to do a one hour episode, rather than the 30 minute one, on Friday night. There is plenty that goes on over Friday-Saturday they can use on the Sunday eviction episodes. They try to cram too much that happened on Thursday into the 30 minute Friday episode.
Yes, they need a late night show because there could be a side to some housemates that could change everyone's opinion of certain housemates, positive or negative.I still don't see how Michael is playing it with Estelle. Just cannot see why anyone would do that...Do me proud, Michael!Prove them all wrong!Michael to WIN!
Scott, you weren't the only one to see it. I did. And you hit the nail on the head by saying that Estelle has a princess complex. I have struggled all season with how to explain the problem I have had with her. Princess complex is perfect! Not even Layla exudes that like Estelle does!
I have to disagree with you Scott and Seffie. I do not think Estelle has a princess complex...Nikki Grahame on BBUK season 7 had a princess complex! Remember those classic DR temper tantrums? lolI feel that Estelle is an extremely stubborn and opinionated young woman, who does not have a filter and by not having that filter, it gets her into trouble by being too argumentative and trying to "one up" the others. I had a boss many years ago that reminds me of Estelle. If I were in the game, she would drive me nuts! lol Annoying as she is, Estelle has not gone to the extremes of some of the others in the game. Do I think she is entitled to win? Absolutely not. Nobody is entitled to win...period. The public determines who should win and we might not agree on their choice. We base our opinions on the housemates based on what we see on an edited television show. All are picked because they have type A personalities. Even as much as I dislike Benjamin, he, and the other cast memebers, are nowhere as bad as some I have seen...the one that immediately comes to mind is the past season of BBUK. There were some extremely vile and disgusting individuals in that cast.
Well, different personalities are going to display their complexes differently. I still think Estelle is guilty of thinking HER opinion is the only opinion worth considering. And in that light, it can be classified a princess complex...I totally agree about the BBUK cast. The UK version goes for EXTREME and they usually manage to get it. Many times, it is way too much for my liking. that is the main reason I like BBAU the best. The go for the fun and even silly, but there is just enough friction to keep it interesting. and I LOVE how Big Brother in BBAU does not stand for any rule breaks - AT ALL! Break the rules, pay the price! I always keep in mind that I voice my opinion off a limited amount of exposure to the HMs because of lack of feeds. I just don't say it every time. At this point, I figure it is a given that we all are doing that. But getting back to BBUK, the cast was particularly bad this season. There were times when I thought about not watching anymore. It was way too frustrating! But since a favorite won, it was worth it in the end...
The BBAU production team has done a good job enforcing the rules. They did let some stuff slide, however, production could have cracked down in the DR and it did not make it on the show. One big problem with the past BBUK season was letting the cast talk about nominations, then production changing the rules back to no discussion of nominations and when the housemates were busted for discussing nominations, the punishment was so minimal, the cast continued to do it. The lack of punishment for rule breaks is why the season was out of control. Yes, Luke Anderson winning made it all worth it in the long run!
Way to let human bashing ben off the hook. He's been vicious, FERAL in his comments, and they show him 'thinking he's cute and funny'. It was no secret he thinks he's the greatest. Ww don't (in West Hollywood - gay capital of America We have: "WEHO HATES B.B.BEN" T-SHIRTS! Estelle is an awesome Angel on earth. No one could be even a little fake after so long. Everyone elses true colors came out, so did Estelle's, it's just hers are beautiful and consistent. Not all red streaks and black splotches like ben's self-hating antics. HE'S HORRIBLE, OH MY GOD HE'S SO HORRIBLE!! HE ACTUALLY SAID LET'S MAKE 'PROTEIN MAN LOOK LIKE HE'S JUST THAT SO AUSTRALIA WILL HATE HIM' He Wasn't kidding either. HE HATES SO HE IS HATED. I hope his boyfriend see's who he really is now.
Most of the HMs are opinionated (they would be pretty boring if they weren't) and all of them are playing the game. Estelle has played the game way better than all of them and that is why she should win. She makes sure she isn't irritated too much by the others (not too easy with the people she is with) and she has been friendly (unlike many of the others). All of that is likely to appeal to the public.
Estelle is an angel? Purlease!! I was very disappointed with the edit. Estelle HAS said things, particularly with Sam and Layla, and it wasn't shown. As for Zoe she is worse than Ben, she is a straight up coward! it's well and good to not like confrontation, that's fine, but if that is the case, zip your lip! Don't run away to spew bile and lick arse in the next breath!
Loving BB Australia much better than BBUK. I think Michael is the biggest game player in there, he's a genius and knows exactly what he's doing he sows the seed and watches it grow especially with Bitchy Ben. He never had a problem with Layla until he thought she could win. Layla is a worthy winner in my eyes
Michael hasn't been able to undermine Estelle so he can't be as much a genius as he thinks he is. And Layla just plays the boring showmance card.
@ Anonymous, totally agree with both yr text. Love how Estelle has overcome Sarah, Stacey, Ben, Michael, Zoe, meanness. She would have been off my radar had it not been for the mean kids in the playground (BULLY"S). But I don't see her as the winner, actually I'm on Sam's side. I would be proud to be his mom. Layla is not a developed person yet, time to grow up girl, but you're headed in the right direction. Had Stacey been nom-nomed earlier she would have gone earlier. Ben is HORRIBLE because he has no clue he is doing BAD things, I'd fire him too. Ben thinks of himself as a victim. Michael is #1 PLAYER, who knows who he is? But he is mean. Zoe also mean hearted but she knows it but think she is in the majority (maybe in the house, but not in the real world). I will think the planet is aligned if Sam, Layla or Estelle win.
Bully's? You haven't been out in the real world much have you if think what's going on in there is bullying! The reason I get so pissed off with the casual use of the B word is because a very dear friend's daughter attempted suicide over the torment, both physical and verbal, she faced on a daily basis and I find it VERY disgusting to compare what Estelle has apparently faced in there to what my friend's daughter went through.
Agreed. Bullying is used too loosely. It's human nature to do what Ben and pretty much everyone else is doing, because they are locked inside a small environment.Hopefully, most of the people who shared the facebook pictures of the housemate they want to win wearing a brotherhood tshirt, vote because that means Michael will win!
Bullying starts small on the playground then escalates. Bullying is anytime you use words or actions to demean or lessen another person. When people abuse others it is BULLYING. Race, gender, religion, ethnicity, are only SOME of the ways people bully. I too have friends and family who have bravely chosen to walk their own path. I too have been a victim. You must NEVER except BULLYING in any format. It may be human nature when you are 12yo, but these are adults. What I see most days is shameful. (got a dictionary?)
I have to agree with Grannie on this one. Bullying doesn't have to be extreme to be classified as such. I was a victim of bullying when I was a child - both physical and verbal. Even though I sustained no injuries, it did not lessen what it did to me! Bullying always starts small and only when nothing stops it does it grew and become more and more extreme, and more and more hurtful. But that impact is there from the start. It's just that it, too, grows as the bullying gets worse. Believe what you will, but as a victim of bullying, I say it is NOT acceptable at ANY LEVEL!!
I think there may be some confusion as to the terminology used pertaining to the treatment of Estelle. She was HARASSED and SHUNNED would be more appropriate. Nobody called her names to her face. Nobody waited for her outside a door to beat her up, and definitely NOBODY physically abused her. The word BULLY is tossed around too freely these days. It's the new BUZZWORD. I, too, was bullied as a kid in school. I was stalked, and chased and beaten to a pulp by Greg Cooley and Chris Hawk frequently after school was over. Sometimes, I could barely walk home. I had my arm broken, my nose broken, and stitches in my forehead from being hit with a chain from Gregs wallet. And you want to tell me that Estelle is put in the same category? Absolutely NOT!Besides being harassed and shunned, you could also add "Abused mentally" to that list of treatment of Estelle. Her numerous nominations did not do her any good mentally. Her only redemption was being saved as many times as she was nominated. Her stay in the house has been a roller-coaster ride to say the least. But Estelle being bullied? Nope. Not even close.
MissBehave, as far as your last comment is concerned, I totally understand what you are saying. But I think that Estelle still did receive a form of bullying. It just did not escalate to the level that your friend's daughter did. That is why I called what happened to Estelle as gang mentality. The whole house ganged up on her. As adults, they did not physically abuse her, but they did shun her. That is a VERY simple form of bullying, but, obviously, very effective. We would have seen the repercussions of it much more visibly if Ava had not come into the house. She was Estelle's saving grace. Any way you look at it, it is not acceptable to treat anyone badly. As adult there is no reason why the HMs could not down and have a discussion on their disagreement as we do here on the blog!
Doc, I believe where Estelle is concerned, we are on the same page. You posted that Estelle was shunned as I was writing that very same word in my last post! But that is where we part ways. I believe that shunning is step one toward much worse if there is no intervention. Down the road that shunning can turn into bullying - with kids and young people. Kids can be VERY CRUEL!
Shunning and harassing someone is separate from bullying. That's why they call in shunning and harassment. The shunning DIDN'T turn into bullying concerning Estelle, so therefore it's NOT bullying. Big Brother would have stepped in if it had escalated to the Bullying category. It didn't. She's fine. Use another word for her treatment. Bullying is the wrong word. I said the same thing when Conor was "VERBALLY ABUSING" Deana in BBUK.Bullying is the strongest word you can use to describe physical and mental behavior toward someone else. Which is why I object to ANYBODY using the term to describe a contestant on a game show. Deana never heard the words Conor said until she was out of the house. That's not bullying at ANY LEVEL. Yet people used it to describe what he said. Now, later in the show, Conor did verbally abuse her to her face. That is NOT bullying. ANd he was called out for it by Big Brother (according to Deana) several times in the DR, even though the public never saw it.It's so simple to pick a different word for the treatment of Estelle. For those people who truly ARE (or were) bullied in their lives, using the term so flippantly LESSENS what they went through.I'm sticking to calling Estelle's treatment as harassment. It fits more appropriately.
Doc, did you read my last post? That is exactly what I said. Estelle was shunned. She was ganged up on. Period. I said that form of treatment is step one TOWARD worse - bullying. When I addressed bullying in my earlier post, I was speaking in generalities. Also, if you think bullying doesn't happen on Big Brother, watch BBAU, season 8. That's all I am saying to prevent a spoiler. But watch it. I'm confident you won't say it doesn't happen on game shows again...
What Connor Said was CRIMINAL and was brought to the attention of the authorities...You can not threaten to shove an object into someones orifice. He could have been calmed down weeks earlier.I witnessed a child knifed because she was the wrong color. When I was a child grown men would have to leave the sidewalk if I walked by because they were the wrong color. I have family who were not allowed to shop in certain places, That is Not bullying. Hanging someone because they are choosing a different lifestyle or has a different color skin, that is not bullying. I have been raped, that is not bullying. When we accept GANG/MOB behavior. It escalates. In the last 20 years or so the BULLYING term started to be used for despicable offences, most go beyond bulling but start there. HERE is the definition: a : a blustering browbeating person; especially : one habitually cruel to others who are weaker
By the definition you gave, it still doesn't apply to Estelle. That's my point. All of the horrible things you have described are despicable human behavior. What Estelle experienced pales in comparison.Use a different word to explain what happened to her, because by all accounts, her treatment AT BEST was that she was OUTCAST, or SHUNNED, and MAYBE "picked on". That's all I'm saying, and I'm not going to say another word about it.
Sorry Doc but I can't let the interpretation go. What is bullying?(by definition)Bullying is persistent unwelcome behaviour, mostly using unwarranted or invalid criticism, nit-picking, fault-finding, also exclusion, isolation, being singled out and treated differently, being shouted at, humiliated, excessive monitoring, having verbal and written warnings imposed, and much more. In the workplace, bullying usually focuses on distorted or fabricated allegations of underperformance. Click here for definitions of workplace bullying. All this was done to Estelle. These are the tools of a bully. If you do these things you are a bully, no justification. I'm done too else I become what I hate.
